BELLINGHAM - A Bellingham man wrapped a baggie of marijuana around an arrow and fired it at the second-floor recreation area of Whatcom County Jail on Tuesday morning, August 27, according to the sheriff's office.

David Wayne Jordan, 36, later claimed he had been aiming at a squirrel. "He had no explanation as to why squirrel hunting requires attaching marijuana to an arrow," said Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo.

"A civilian employed by the sheriff's office saw Jordan get out of his red Ford pickup at 8:40 a.m. on the south side of the jail, 311 Grand Ave., with a hunting bow and arrow. He fired the marijuana missile upward toward a mesh screen near the top of the second-floor, fresh-air exercise area for inmates," Elfo said.

"If fired at a perfect angle, the sheriff added, an arrow might squeeze through the screen. But, apparently, this marksman was no Robin Hood. The arrow - along with a few grams of marijuana and a yet-to-be-identified substance - missed its target and landed on the roof.

Jordan fled the scene in his Ford, but the civilian employee wrote down its license plate," Elfo said. Deputies found Jordan's pickup hours later parked outside of his home in the 3300 block of McAlpine Road. The bow was still in the Ford.

Law enforcement officers got a search warrant and forced their way into Jordan's home after he refused to let them in. He admitted to firing off an arrow, but insisted he had been squirrel hunting.

Nobody was in the jail's recreation area at the time, so deputies aren't sure if the arrow had an intended recipient.

Earlier this month, Jordan served a 20-day jail sentence for two counts of assault and one count of resisting arrest. He was released Friday, August 23.

Jail officials rebooked him Tuesday evening on suspicion of introducing contraband to a corrections facility in the third degree, resisting arrest and obstructing law enforcement. His current cell is on the first floor.

Brilliant, but not as much as the gato that was apprehended crossing the main gate of Arapiraca jail, in Brazil carrying printed circuit boards, drill bits, metal cutting saw blades, a mobile phone (equipped with charger, headphones and all the rest).

Even if the arrow didn't missed its target, some grams of marijuana would have been gone with a couple of joints, changing basically nothing in there... but if that gato was successful, that could have led to mass evasion of prisoners, much worse of several inmates smoking grass, James Bond is a pussy compared to that gato; oh, as a "punishment" he had been sent to a zoological center where he could eat, drink and fuck for FREE maybe forever, 'nuff said.
