Phoenix model plane aficionado Joe Nagy suffered from a nonstop flow of clear liquid from his nose for a year and a half, and was "embarrassed" by what he figured was a snot stream. But when a specialist finally told him the membrane around his brain had a small hole in it and he was leaking brain fluid, he was understandably "scared to death." Fortunately, surgery fixed the problem. Nagy's doctor, Barrow Neurological Institute neurosurgeon Peter Nakaji, says leaky brains are "one of the more common conditions to be missed for a long time."

I use to do live action roleplay with padded weapons. A guy took a hit to the face from a spear that floored him hard. It was like he ran head on face first into the end of a metal bar sticking out the side of a building. He tried to brush it off and get up but he wasn't all there and the hit could have knocked anyone right off their feet. I had heard that for almost a week he had a runny nose. He finally went to the Dr. and they told him he had been leaking brain fluid from his nose. I think his oxcibital orb was fractured and whatever else further back that was enabling the fluid to leak out. That's why they had people sign waivers before participating in combat.
