Re: Man Spent Three Years Itching His Back Only to Find a KNIFE Lodged in It
This guy was obviously not in touch with his own body to not notice something different, but then, I've seen several shows about doctors leaving things inside people after surgery and it takes years for someone to figure things out. Is this the cost of free health care?! |

Re: Man Spent Three Years Itching His Back Only to Find a KNIFE Lodged in It
Nope. Not due to universal healthcare. It occurs throughout private and public healthcare institutions. It's all about human error and working under pressure. It often occurs where the patient has had to be operated on at short notice due to dire circumstances. Theater staff normally do at least 4 counts of all equipment to be used but as well know, sometimes we don't count properly. Another risk is where the patient has to be kept under for longer than expected. The patient is the priority and sometimes procedures are deviated from in order to deal with a sudden issue with the patients well being. In medical textbooks and in law, it's referred to as "the patient retained ..." rather than "it was left inside by staff"! |
