Wife Asks for Divorce, Husband Shoots Her

A New Jersey man who shot his wife shortly after she requested a divorce is now behind bars.

The Daily Record of Parsippany reports David Noll's ex-wife and their two adult sons called him, “pathetic,” and a, “coward,” during his sentencing hearing Friday. He was then sentenced to 10 years for attempted murder and also received a consecutive one-year term for violating a no-contact order by sending his former wife letters from jail.

“You planned to slaughter me and leave your children without a mother,” said Karen McCoy, who divorced Noll, her husband of 25 years, after he shot her on November 18, 2010, in the driveway of their Woods End Trail home in Rockaway Township, the Daily Record reports.

The 54-year-old Rockaway Township resident pleaded guilty to the charges in February. Authorities have said Noll used a .38-caliber handgun to shoot his wife in the back, chest and buttocks.

McCoy’s two now-adult sons, Christopher and Matthew Noll, read statements in court and said that life with him was always miserable because he was abusive, controlling and whiny and specialized in trying to wreck their self-esteem, according to the Daily Record.

“May the devil have mercy on you when you reach hell,” Matthew Noll said.

Noll apologized for the shooting and said his family had no idea of his feelings after his wife told him their marriage was over.

“We’ve had a good life together. I had a rough upbringing myself,” Noll said. “I still love Karen and I love my sons very much. I hope someday they can forgive me.”

McCoy has recovered from her wounds.

Wow. Thank goodness the woman survived. I wonder what his upbringing was like. It's no excuse though.

No clue. He probably didn't give it much thought.

I think the wife is the one between the two younger guys since they have two sons.
