Schizophrenia is a crazy illness. I had an ex whose mom had severe schizophrenia. At one point she went missing for a month and they found her barricaded in a random apartment with barbed wire and broken glass on the floor so no one could "get her" when she slept. Her modern meds balanced her out some, but she still keeps a journal documenting celebrities that she thinks are archangels from the Bible. What a horrible illness. People just fall in to an alternate, fear-dominated reality that takes over everything.
