Jeffrey Stiles of Muskegon, Michigan, was clearly feeling pleased with the zombie costume he’d pulled together to attend a Halloween party last Saturday night.

Stepping outside for a cigarette, the 45 year old thought he’d take the fright fest to the next level and lurched onto the street in an attempt to scare drivers into thinking the undead apocalypse was underway.

It turns out he was more successful than anticipated.

According to reports, Stiles walked into the traffic lane and was promptly hit by a car. “He decided to walk along the roadway to scare cars, as he was dressed like a zombie for the Halloween party,” confirms Ottawa County Sgt. Matt Wilfong.

Though we don’t know if the driver of the car was acting out a scene from The Walking Dead or simply didn’t see Stiles, it appears he or she was sufficiently spooked and quickly fled the scene.

Stiles survived the hit and run with minor injuries and is currently recovering in an area hospital. Authorities are asking for any witnesses to come forward.
