Man Decapitated in Busy Town Centre

Jeff Fletcher, 36, who had been guitarist with Manchester rock band Northern Uproar, was walking along Wellington Road South, in Stockport when the accident happened.

Tributes have been paid to a guitarist who died in a horrific accident with a lorry.

Jeff Fletcher, who had been part of well-known Manchester rock band Northern Uproar, was walking on Wellington Road South, Stockport centre, when he was involved in a collision with a lorry on Monday afternoon.

Jeff, 36, who lived in Offerton but grew up in Heald Green, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a severe head injury.

He was just 11 when he and friend Leon Meya first began playing music and together they were part of Northern Uproar.

The band found success in the mid 1990s with a top 40 self-titled album and similarly successful singles. They toured with the Prodigy and Charlatans split in 1999 and reformed in 2004 before Jeff left the band last year.

Leon, 36, of Heald Green, said: “Jeff was a gentleman and my friend since the age of five, we grew up together and went through school.

“He was a genius and learned the guitar in six months. He was the principle song writer, he could make melodies, sing and was a good performer. He made the sound of Northern Uproar, we were a great team.

“Jeff was recognised as a great guitarist, his guitar work was amazing. He was such a lovely caring bloke, I will miss a proper friend.”

Re: Man Decapitated in Busy Town Centre

It doesnt say anywhere in the article about it being a decapitation, just a head injury.

Re: Man Decapitated in Busy Town Centre

Apparently, he leant out into a busy road, and the lorry did the rest. Can't find the local articles on it now :/

Re: Man Decapitated in Busy Town Centre

How horrible I found it laughable in the article that people were complaining that they were allowed to see too much. Whose fault is that? The police according to them.

Re: Man Decapitated in Busy Town Centre

The article is retarded. It says he was decapitated, then further down it was a apparently a severe head injury.

So which is it? The two and pretty fucking different.
