Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Hitting Pregnant Girlfriend with Car

Pasco County, FL- Pasco deputies overnight arrested a man they say tried to run over his pregnant girlfriend with a car Monday, nearly three years after he struck his brother with a car in Holiday.

Justin Lee Colby, 33, was driving east on Westwood Drive near U.S. 19 about 1 p.m. Monday when, according to authorities, he veered off the road and hit Crystal Lynn Noordhuizen, who is seven months pregnant. Colby faces a charge of attempted homicide. Noordhuizen was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point with minor injuries.

Earlier Monday, she told deputies, she was in a fight with Colby and had left their home to avoid further confrontation. After she left, according to an arrest report, Noordhuizen said Colby called her and asked, "Are you ready for your abortion date?"

A deputy reviewed surveillance footage that showed Colby striking Noordhuizen, 32, with a 2006 Dodge Charger in front of a Toyota dealership, according to the report. He crashed into a pole, got out of the car but did not help Noordhuizen.

Instead, Colby walked to his home on the same road and fled on a white motorcycle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office announced about midnight that Colby had been arrested.

In April 2012, Colby was charged with running over his brother, Daniel Colby, then 27, when the two fought at 3302 Glenwood Circle ( tbtim.es/db6). The brothers tossed a toaster, a crowbar and a plank of wood at each other.

Justin and his girlfriend sped off, but then came back. Daniel was standing in the driveway, according to the Sheriff's Office. He told deputies he thought Justin would swerve out of the way.

The force of the crash sent Daniel flying and broke his knee. Justin told investigators that his brother had run towards the car and that he did not hit Daniel on purpose. He was charged then with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
