Male Nurses Sexually Abuse Stroke Victim
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nati...icle-1.1198637 Two male nurses might face criminal charges after apparently molesting a 98-year-old, bedridden stroke patient. The state of California is working to yank licenses issued to San Diego nurses Russel Torralba and Alfredo V. Ruiz, XETV reported. While dressed in blue nurses uniforms, Torralba and Ruiz fondled one another and touched the hand and face of a helpless female patient, home video shows. In one incident, a nurse places the woman’s hand inside his pants, an attorney said. The video “appears to show very egregious behavior,” Russ Heimerich, a spokesman for the state Department of Consumer Affairs, told the San Diego Union Tribune. “I don’t know if we’ve ever had a case that has a video like this. We are working to shut them down,” he said. The video was one of several shot last year. The patient’s family had installed security cameras in her home to monitor the care provided by private 12-hour shift nurses hired through a company called AMS Home Care Solutions. “What they saw was horrific,” said family lawyer William Berman of the nurses’ behavior. “These acts are unfathomable.” The patient, who was not identified, is aware of herself and her surroundings but unable to call for help, Berman said. The nurses had been hired at a rate of $1,300 a day, U-T San Diego reported. The San Diego District Attorney’s office is reviewing the case for possible criminal charges, XETV reported. Torralba and Ruiz have been barred from working as in-home health providers, but are still allowed to work in a hospital setting pending the outcome of a hearing this month. Both XETV and the Union-Tribune were unable to reach Torralba or Ruiz for comment. ____________________________________ There is a video at the link but I don't know how to embed. Sorry! |

Re: Male Nurses Sexually Abuse Stroke Victim
Unfortunately Kelly I suspect it's not just lately it's been happening, it's just that nowadays some places have CCTV and catch the bastards. I bet it's been going on for years. Some of the video footage out there is disgusting. Makes me ashamed to say I do the job I do, because we all get tarred by the same brush. |

Karma, too bad the people who help the elderly and ill aren't more like you. I imagine you are right about this going on for years. Hopefully stories like this will help get rid of more bad people in this profession. What's really crazy is these particular 'nurses' apparently weren't even licensed.

The video wouldn't work for me, Meg. I didn't see you had posted this already. I'm kind of glad it didn't! Horrible! For $1300 a day, I'm sure the company who hired the nurses didn't want to lose their money! I've said it before, but, someone needs to monitor the caregivers of the elderly, disabled and babies/children. It's a sad epidemic! |

Re: Male Nurses Sexually Abuse Stroke Victim
WTF, they're allowed to continue working in a hospital setting until the end of month? They fire people who flip .69 hambugers on the spot for less than that. These fuckers should be locked in a room with the meanest fucker in the closest county jail they can find, not working in a hospital.
