Re: LuchaLibre Superstar Dies Due to Mishap During Match.
People are saying it was Ray's 619 move that caused the injury. But the video clearly showed that he was out before he even did the move. They are now saying his neck snapped back on the ropes.

Wow. In America there would be a enormous law suit. I wonder if he could have been saved if they would have called in doctors immediately. And maybe treated him like someone with a spine injury, instead of just pushing him off the ropes and shaking him around.

Everything in wrestling is fake...except the injuries. Especially the fatal ones. I surprised that there are not more instances of paralysis in professional wrestling. All it takes is for things to happen...just...a...little...bit...off... The spine can be a very unforgiving structure. |

Re: LuchaLibre Superstar Dies Due to Mishap During Match.
It's hard to see what caused the injury. Ray took him down with his legs around the victims neck, that was the only thing I could see involving his neck........ Couldn't see what happened when he went out of the ring, he could have landed on his head....... In any case he got back in the ring on his own power, and the drop kick that sent him into the ropes didn't seem to bad. |

Re: LuchaLibre Superstar Dies Due to Mishap During Match.
He was dead the second he hit the ropes. The biggest problem facing wrestlers in America is the union busting mentality behind some of the bigger promotions. They employ the wrestlers as "independent contractors" to avoid most of the labor code and liabilities. |

Re: LuchaLibre Superstar Dies Due to Mishap During Match.
At about 10 seconds, when hes take a faux kick to the face, he really smacked the back of his head on the canvas. You can see him wobble a little too before he gets the head scissors. Look at the foot smacking on the brain-stem area, right where he just fell, and then finally receiving one more kick and threw himself on the rope, whipping his neck and head. Add all that to the physical exertion of moving around, getting beaten, and your blood full of adrenaline rushing with elevated body temperature... Well, your brain is not going to be ok. I do think he was still alive for a moment after he hit the ropes, you can see his left leg give some resistance, but gives out when the other guy hit the rope next to him. Most really serious, career ending, or fatal injuries in wrestling, that are on video all go nearly same way. We need to remember these guys look for bad situations more than we do, and they have had plenty of times to where they have taken too hard a hit and just need a few moments to recover, and go about the match. Sadly this often leads to worse injury to the victim. Imagine the nightmares Ray must have where he walks into a locker room and sees 30 best friends who have died over the last 20 years. |
