Don;t take this wrong, but psycopaths are actually
gregarious and charming. By artifice and design.

Re: Leslie Van Houten Denied Parole

Ultimately people are responsible for their own behavior. There is nothing to indicate she had Stockholm Syndrome or was afraid for her life if she did not participate like Patty Hurst.

There were a lot of girls in the Manson family but only some who murdered. This makes me think he chose those he knew would do the deed. The question is would she have killed without being part of the Manson family. I think Bletch is right in that her behavior during the trial is indicative she might have but this just opened up the opportunity.

I honestly do not know if anyone in the Manson family would be dangerous today. They are older and fucking clueless to today's technology and the social interaction that has changed as a part of it. But if they got on the Internet they could hook up with the wrong group and go right back in to the behaviors that put them there in the first place.

Especially since nutjobs and worshippers would seek them out, if they were ever released.

Re: Leslie Van Houten Denied Parole

I think if someone takes a life then they should lose their life in return. Why should they experience any sort of life after their victim will not be able to.? Not always death but life in prison is fair.

Re: Leslie Van Houten Denied Parole

What suprised me was that they let that other nut job out, Lynette 'Squeaky' Fromme. Even if she wasn't directly involved with the murders she tried to shot president Ford. She's mental.
And some say that little red haired slut was hot back in the day

Re: Leslie Van Houten Denied Parole

Do you believe everyone who committed a murder (or who was present for one) should automatically serve the rest of their natural life in prison? Or do you believe that someone could be rehabilitated?

Truly curious--I'm always interested in the CJ system as a topic of debate. :)
You can be rehabilitated. You'll just be a rehabilitated person in jail for the remainder of your life. Rot for sure. No reason letting you live your life, no matter how much you've changed, if you took the life of somebody else in a cold blooded murder

I never thought about it that way before.
