Its an extremely rare black leopard with extra melanin. Black Panthers are more common IIRC.

A black panther isn’t a specific species of big cat. It’s actually any big cat that has black fur, due to the excessive melanin trait. In the Americas, they’re Jaguars and in Africa, they’re Leopards. I wonder if it ever pops up in Snow Leopards, or Cheetahs. |
