3rd person distancing is a good way of dealing with things.

I use it mainly for the fact that it's based on upvotes, so the news that I follow are the most relevant based on the vote ratio.

Do you know how hard it would be to track all of this stuff manually?

Also, http://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians .

Reddit is a goldmine, if you know what subreddits to follow. The popular ones are mostly shitty imageboards.

reddit is just like Wikipedia - both unreliable and won't pass the smell test. Now, I'd probably trust Wiki over reddit, though.

Distancing yourself from what your country/ancestors have done is not a proper way of dealing with things.

The most common answer I got when asking questions about Nazi war crimes was "we don't talk about that" or "we don't discuss that anymore."

There's a reason why so many other Euro countries still dislike Germany.

European opinion on Germany is actually very, very high. They say that mostly because it's a question foreigners ask so many times, it becomes annoying, as I assume you did.

Actually, it's not. You should ask around more.

You don't even know what questions I asked, so how the hell would you know how they should answer?

nope, sorry

nearly everything that is connected to the nazis is banned, and you can be punished for having stuff from them, that is correct

but everyone knows about it !

i am an austrian, and one of the first things you learn in history is all about ww1 and ww2, and i have a lot of german friends, and its the same there.

the thing is, ww2 and the holocaust is so well known and everyone is aware of it, that you cant say shit about any other "minority", because you are a racist just for being german or austrian.

oh and btw: ww1 and ww2 had some major involvement from us austrians, so dont fuck with us

Let me guess, they were in the context of WWII, and maybe, just maybe WWI. German history spans thousands of years. Imagine if someone from another country comes and starts asking the same questions that were asked before, about a time period that does not describe their culture and current state.

72% of French people have a good opinion on Angela Merkel, in poll did by IFOP recently.

I'm going off of my experience. I did live there, it wasn't a vacation or a trip.

I don't know why I would "fuck with" you?

You harp all over the US, so you have zero ground here.
