Re: At Least 27 Dead, 180 Injured During Concert in Colectiv Club in Bucharest
It didn't went horribly wrong, it happened exactly what you'd expect when you allow the use of pyrotechnics INSIDE a club , moreover in a Country in which security for persons and property is a joke and self extinguishing materials, basically, don't exist: apparently, despite previous disasters like theThe Station nightclub fire, the República Cromañón fire, the Santika Club fire, the Kiss nightclub fire they though it was a good idea to use pyrotechnics inside the club anyway. This wasn't an incident, it was a mass suicide, ffs!

Re: At Least 27 Dead, 180 Injured During Concert in Colectiv Club in Bucharest
I was thinking the same thing Gatagato said. That place had no precautions. They were just out for profit. Even with fire codes shit like that can happen. It did in the US years ago at that club in Rhode Island. It just takes a few people to break the codes and a bunch of people die.

Re: At Least 27 Dead, 180 Injured During Concert in Colectiv Club in Bucharest
Most died poisoned by toxins released from the burning PolyUrethane acoustic foam, and as emerged, Luxory Media LLC, the firm that handled the acoustic ceiling treatment of Club Colectiv, revealed that they had "offered several options, but everybody chooses the cheaper one. A self-extinguishing version of the very same product, would have been 35-40% more expensive". Let alone its composition: the combination of poisons found in many of the victims was carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, hydrogen cyanide, hydrogen chloride, toluene, and xylene. That is the problem, some shit that is banned in the rest of Europe is allowed/tolerated there, while Class ‘0’ PolyUrethane non-flammable acoustic foam should be the only one allowed, to begin with (in this case): the fire would have spread much more slowly, same goes for the leak of poisons: basically, 35 people lost their lives because some assholes whatsoever (instead of the law) could establish what to do to prevent a disaster like this, since an operating license was given to the club without a permit from the fire department. The Club's owners have been arrested and charged with negligent homicide and negligent bodily harm, but it's a bit too late for the victims |

Re: At Least 27 Dead, 180 Injured During Concert in Colectiv Club in Bucharest
Two more people succumbed Sunday to their wounds from a horrific nightclub fire in Bucharest that brought down the Romanian government, bringing the death toll up to 43, a hospital official said. The chief of Floreasca hospital's plastic surgery department said the victims -- a young Romanian woman and a Turkish tourist -- died a day after nine other wounded lost their lives, including two who had been transferred to the Netherlands for treatment. "The next seven days will be the most difficult with regards to treating the wounded," Health Minister Nicolae Banicioiu said Saturday. "We welcome any help, any medical teams coming from abroad." Romanian media criticised the authorities for failing to transfer some of the wounded to hospitals abroad in time. "Why has Romania not asked for international help before?" Gandul daily wrote, adding that the country's hospitals were struggling to treat more than 140 people wounded in the October 30 tragedy at the Colectiv nightclub. Eighteen people were transferred abroad on Saturday -- eight to Belgium, eight to the Netherlands and two to Austria. Two more will be flown to Britain and Hungary on Sunday, the defence ministry said. |

Re: At Least 27 Dead, 180 Injured During Concert in Colectiv Club in Bucharest
It looks like the mayor granted the working permit on the club even though it was not approved by firefighters. The lead singer had burns over 45% of his body and two guitarists died. It looks like that poor band is over. They were actually pretty good. I had never heard of them until this. I have had that song, the opener, "The Day We Die" in my head since hearing it. It is really weird that was their opening song SOURCE |
