Pedophilia goes on everywhere. We're just more aware of it and have better investigative resources here in the US. It's rare enough in the US that when someone is caught it makes the news and you become aware of it. In most countries they aren't even aware it's going on and law enforcement has no clue how to investigate that type of crime or they have no resources.
