Re: Laszlo Csatary, 97-year-old Hungarian Nazi, detained in Budapest
I came to the conclusion because the death penalty will at some point be viewed in the same light as what the Nazi's did. Unjustifiable killing of another human being no matter what they have done or what they are.

Comparing the extermination of the Jews in Europe; the indiscriminate murders of homosexuals, disabled people, pols, slavs etc. to the death penalty is incomprehensibly stupid. Clearly a few people inferred you were making such a comparison. |

Well if the nazis were just doing their job then so are the exterminators who punish serial rapists and murderers as you said... then you said we will hunt them down in 50 years like we do with the nazis... your comparing people who commit genocide to people who punish killers, rapists and such. I don't think anyone (aside from the odd crazies) will look back on someone who exterminated someone like ted bundy and think ohh we should find the guy who put him to death and punish him compared to someone who committed genocidal acts. |

Re: Laszlo Csatary, 97-year-old Hungarian Nazi, detained in Budapest
The Holocaust isn't something that can (or should) be relativised. But, I would argue that innocent people who are convicted and are unfortunately put to death, can be relativised as an error by the Justice system. I do think that people wrongly convicted should be compensated though, which it seems, most States are reluctant to do so in a lot of cases. |

I don't agree with the death penalty for that reason. I also don't think genocide is a job, don't care who told you to do what. He was not some low level nazi, id bet he loved every bit of his power and what he was doing. Clearly had no remorse to turn himself in. |

Agreed, but there are some who could use torture till the day they die... I'm talking the guys like movie theater shooting, serial killers, serial rapists, people who were involved in war crimes/ genocide
