Kids lie on the ground, make an arrow pointing to escaped robbers
The youngsters were in the middle of a field when they spotted a police helicopter above. Having already clocked two fleeing men, they laid on the ground with their arms outstretched, pointing to where the suspects were. The National Police Air Service crew onboard followed the line of the arrow and spotted the pair in some undergrowth. They told officers on the ground where the suspects had fled to, and they were both found and arrested. As a thank you, the crew later landed nearby to greet the children - once they had finished their Good Friday Easter egg hunt. The helicopter had been called by Surrey Police after a report of intruders at a disused building off Horsham Road in Capel, Mole Valley. I’m sure the last thing the group of daring Capel residents expected when they set out on Friday afternoon was to abandon their Easter egg hunt to assist us in a police search but the initiative they demonstrated proved to be invaluable. The swift action taken by the group of parents and their children was the sort of thing you would usually associate with an Enid Blyton adventure but their ingenuity proved a great help for our crews. – NPAS Sgt Paul Sochon Two men, aged 28 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and have been bailed until May 13 pending further enquiries.  · |

Pointing wouldn't be as visible to the helicopter but it would be to the fugitives, which would be counterproductive, so by lying down they cover both aspects. Really clever. |
