I'm with Nite; this story reeked of bullshit from the start.
On the other hand, allowing the family to keep that 30k regardless was an excellent PR move on KFC's part.

Those assholes at that KFC -- both the employee(s) that asked them to leave and the customer(s) that complained -- were lucky someone like me wasn't there when that shit went down. I would have paid for that little girl's meal, and then chewed that whole place out at maximum volume and with the most extreme of profanity.

I'm sure I would have wound up arrested afterwards, but it still would have been worth it.
