The most unsettling thing about Dahmer was that he had such a "normal" upbringing. Aside from a meek father and a somewhat overbearing mother, there were none of traumas or triggers in his life that are usually associated with the types of things he did. Just an average guy with something very dark inside. |

His mother was a wacko! She's dead now, but, did you ever see any of her interviews? It was the crazy mother thing and the absent father. Jeff had issues, but, they weren't addressed when he was young. When the parents left him alone with no money or food and took his younger brother, David, is when he acted on one of his fantasies. He was dissecting road kill as a child and putting animal skulls on sticks. He had a fear of abandonment. He wanted someone who wouldn't leave him, but, as we know, you never know what will happen in a relationship. That is not to say he was right. He needed someone to talk with. I wish the crazy parents, who couldn't even decide what to do with his brain, so it was split between them, would have had it studied. Most serial killers have those crazy, domineering mothers. |

Honestly, I think Dahmer's breaking point was an abdominal surgery that he had to have when he was young. I think that was the final straw, what really cemented his obsession with viscera.

I worked in a prison for several years as a nurse and the food there pretty much kept me in business and half the time looked like they'd scraped it off the motorway/freeway. I also doubt he was trying to fashion limbs out of the food, unless you're lucky enough to class your penis as a limb  probably just squirted ketchup all over it to make it edible, like I had to with my moms cooking as a kid  |
