A company in Japan has come up with a new way of demolishing high-rise buildings in densely built-up areas, as an alternative to using wrecking balls or explosives.

Did these guys ever think about over engineering a solution? Must be prohibitively expensive and looks to take far too long in bringing a building down.

Too expensive.

The only way it would be applied here in the west is if it got cheaper and when a client wanted to erect a building in a place which needs redevelopment.
