Wtf! The police now believe the murder could be linked to NINE other attacks on women in the area

Italian police are hunting a possible serial killer after the naked body of a woman was found "crucified" and hanging from a bridge.

The body of 26-year-old Andrea Cristina Zamfir was found kneeling, with her wrists taped to a horizontal bar and arms outstretched “as if she had been crucified”, witnesses told police.

Andrea, a Romanian immigrant, had been raped and tortured before she died, medical tests revealed.

Detectives fear her death is linked to similar attacks on nine other women in the Florence and Prato areas in the past decade.

A 46-year-old Italian woman survived an almost identical attack.

She was found bound to the same horizontal bar in March last year by passers who heard her screaming for help.

She had been raped, suffering internal injuries so serious that she spent three weeks in hospital.

Police are also investigating five other attacks in the outskirts of Florence and four in the nearby city of Prato.

It is believed the serial attacker has now become a killer.

Prosecutor Paolo Canessa said: “We can say with certainty that the perpetrator is a homicidal maniac and that he is a serial homicidal maniac.’



Some victims who survived have described the perpetrator as an Italian man, aged between 50 and 60, of stocky build and with thinning hair.

A series of raids on properties connected to a suspect have so far yielded no results.

The article is inaccurate though: i've found a couple of pics somewhere and i'd say that obviously she wasn't "hanging from a bridge", she was tied to a bar, a semi-blockade, the bridge is in the background and relatively far from the body. Another fucking mystery in Florence and the media never mentioned it: a serial attacker in the area of Florence - Prato and nobody knew it

Now even the first DNA analisys confirmed that at least three attacks were carried out by the same dude

And guess what he does? He rips the tape he uses to tie his victims with his teeths, leaving purposely his genetic signature along with his saliva. He has no fear to be caught but he's not very brave: he's a bastard who attacks women when they're alone and undefended, mostly prostitutes or drug addicts who MUST do that as they really have no alternatives, many of them are already desperate, and i've just read that all the victims matched the same profile: physically and psychologically weak
there's MUCH cowardy and zero heroism in this dude if you ask me i hope he'll rot in hell asap, no matter in a shootout, run over by a truck or electrocuted.

The local cops didn't see the pattern? I thought pretty much most if not all European police used the same serial killer computer program that the US and Canada use to check murder patterns/evidence. Investigators enter the relevant data on each murder into the program and then the program compares that murder with all the other murders in the database and checks to see if there are any patterns or similarities. It's a great tool and it's used just about everywhere in one form or another. It's just odd that they didn't recognize any pattern at all linking the crimes.

A guy on the radio just said that they've caught the killer: it's a 55 y.o. plumber from Florence.
Now covered also by Il Corriere della sera, it seems that he confessed to some crimes.
