It happens when the electrical current in the heart isn't in-sync with the rest of the body or that it is out of rhythm entirely.

The only way to save these types of cardiac arrests is a defib.

I am surprised it isn't more common as its known widely as sudden death syndrome.

I know, it's such a horrible thing among young athletes. Most who collapse have a pre-existing heart condition and have no symptoms. It's a ticking time bomb waiting to happen. That's why alot of doctors are encouraging tests like MRI's and ECG's at a young age even if you are perfectly healthy. You have a 4-6 minute window where brain damage could happen if there is no resuscitation, and anything after that, it's permanent. It's a scary thing....RIP buddy

Yeah or called V-FIB, i'm surprised there was no AED present for the man...or was there? That would have raised his 7% chances of making it to 40% i believe..or even higher.

It's because of all the steroids and shit they are on. The meth he took before the game to pick him up from an all night boozing session probably didn't help either.
