Disturbing news here from The Electronic Intifada:

This disturbing image shows the back of the head of a child or young man as seen in the crosshairs of a rifle. The photo was posted on the personal Instagram account of Mor Ostrovski, a 20-year old Israeli soldier in a sniper unit.

The context – particularly the character of the buildings seen in the background of the image – strongly suggests the child could be Palestinian.

There are no other images to suggest that the photographer actually fired at the person in the image in this case. The image is simply tasteless and dehumanizing. It embodies the idea that Palestinian children are targets.

gotta admit, its a pretty cool pic though.. poor choice of target, yes. Regardless, he would catch flack no matter who was the target.. he's an Israeli soldier.

Israeli backpackers told me that soldiers are encouraged to point their guns at stone throwing kids at the borders of "settlements", but they aren't "allowed" to shoot them (I got the impression that they would quite happily pull the trigger). Not the nicest people I've ever met, and I certainly wouldn't want to have them as neighbours.

I don't condone the image but for those demonizing Israeli troops the vast majority are conscripted soldiers. Many friends and family members served their mandatory years, they are normal people.

Also the image could mean this is how easy it would be for us to kill civilians and children as many claim is all israel does but we have restraint unlike our enemy who bomb buses, shoot rockets blind etc etc etc.

Who knows what the intention was but the person is an idiot for posting it because he should have known how it would be used.

Also the photography skill is immense not sure how many of you have scopes like that but try and take a photo with everything in focus like that, I cant do it and I have been trying for the past little while lol.
