Re: ISIS Leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi Makes First Public Appearance
Don't underestimate this guy's operation. ISIS pays top dollar within the Islamic extremist racket, their guys are trained well, and they're even more flush with cash after seizing all those Iraqi banks and the like. Baghdadi's public appearance has no doubt been a morale booster. He wouldn't be showing his face like this if the future of ISIS' campaign wasn't looking bright. |

Re: ISIS Leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi Makes First Public Appearance
The news was making a big deal about his watch the other day. "Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi ridiculed for flashy wristwatch - The Islamic State leader prompts confusion among his followers after appearing in his first public address wearing a wristwatch that resembles an expensive Omega or Rolex" · |

Re: ISIS Leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi Makes First Public Appearance
All of those militant clerics/sheiks/imams are ultimately politicians at heart, so the wristwatch thing doesn't surprise me. Occasionally you'll get a true believer like bin Laden or al-Zarqawi, but those types tend not to hold religious titles.

Re: ISIS Leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi Makes First Public Appearance
According to pro-isis social media it was a Alfajr Swiss Luxury Steel Watch WA-10S, which retails for $330 - or cheaper: as well as giving the regular time and date (which is the very least that it should do), it's programmed with the prayer times for all the world's major cities (and more locations can be added manually by the user). The date can be set according to the Gregorian calendar or the Muslim calendar, and it also contains a compass to indicate Kiblah, or the direction of prayer. It's not crap made in China, it's a serious watch relatively cheap, but those who guessed "it's a Rolex! no, it's Omega no, wait, it's a Sekonda" have no clue what they were talking about, a 700,000 $ Omega Constellation Baguette is MUCH different from a 60 $ Sekonda, it's like one claims that "he was driving an expensive car" but then he can't tell the difference between a Ferrari F14 T and a Fiat Panda 903 cc., it was a very wild guess, in my opinion. |
