Re: Iraq | 500,000 Flee Mosul As Sunni Jihadists Pose 'mortal Threat' to Nation
It goes back at least 5,000 years. The people there have behaved essentially the exact same way for all that time. Only the names have changed. |

No, the situation we'd have is saddam would be the one that contained the real monster for 30 years..... The real monster is radical Islam funded by iraq's oil fields. If these nuts take over, we'll wish that saddam was still around to gas their zealot asses. |

Re: Iraq | 500,000 Flee Mosul As Sunni Jihadists Pose 'mortal Threat' to Nation
The question is what was gained through the whole war? Seems to me that it's inevitable that this will end in a Islamic based government, either Sunni or Shia, and someone is gonna wind up fucked either way. Saddam wasn't ideal, but he wasn't a religious zealot either. He was the cork in the bottle. So much for freedom and democracy. It's completely lost on cultures that don't value it. |

democracy always lost anyways, look at the great empires, none of them lasted forever, it is only a matter of time before it all collapses. I am always preparing when everybody will depend on themselves.

There's something about it on BBC news. I can't save the video so if you're not in the UK I don't think you'll be able to watch it. Fucking Tony Blair sticking his unwanted fucking nose in again, claiming that the invasion of Iraq didn't cause the crisis, but because we were there we now have to intervene again. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-27858692 |

Stocked up on tinned meats in the basement? Lol seriously though if you're preparing for the collapse of civilisation, invest in a water filter. Water is the new oil. |

Re: Iraq | 500,000 Flee Mosul As Sunni Jihadists Pose 'mortal Threat' to Nation
It absolutely caused they crisis. This is why the UN didn't finish off saddam in the first gulf war, they knew that whoever replaced him could be far more of a threat. I think they call it the Powell doctrine, which is basically if you break a nation you are responsible for fixing it. I read that Iran has military units in Iraq fighting the insurgents, and the Kurds are holding their ground as well. This could very easily turn into a regional conflict, everybody in that area has a stake in the outcome. This could go very, very shitty. |

Re: Iraq | 500,000 Flee Mosul As Sunni Jihadists Pose 'mortal Threat' to Nation
Iraq has been invaded successfully several times, beginning around the time of the 15th Century. By the Safavid dynasty of Iran, by the Ottoman Empire, and more recently, by the British Army, who took Baghdad in 1917 after 2 years of fighting for ground in what was then known as Mesopotamia. Going further back in history, we see the Roman Emperor Trajan had also conquered Iraq, he himself laid down the borders of Mesopotamia.
