Iranian Man Has Fingers Sawn Off.
Iranian court has ruled that the punishment for theft is that the fingers of thieves be amputated as was performed in public today. According to the Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA) Gulf region, the defendant has a criminal history with numerous charges including theft, adultery, and the sale of stolen property. According to a vote and approved by Branch 17 of the Appeals Branch 122 criminal court in Shiraz, Fars province, Hdalhy was sentenced with the punishment for theft. The defendant in this case, S. Hdalhy., 29 years old, led a gang which was responsible for robbing 47 people according to complaints made to judiciary Shiraz Shkat after the arrest and during the investigation process. In addition to the punishment of amputation for the numerous thefts S. Hdalhy was also sentenced to 99 lashes for the crime of adultery and three years in jail. The report of his collaborators who have been involved in robberies similar, have been sentenced to imprisonment and flogging. Go to jail for a year for robbing someone or get your fingers cut off. I think the latter would keep more people from doing bad things  |

Isn't sawing off fingers going to render them disabled and unable to work?? Great deterrent, I know but when you look at the bigger picture, something less disfiguring seems a better plan  |
