Yes, the Arleigh Burke class and the new Zumwalt class are obsolete. /sarcasm.

Warship is a catchall term. It doesn't necessarily mean they're sending out an old WWII cruiser.

With the way technology is progressing, warships, heavy crusiers or any kind of combat ship is a thing of the past.

i mean this respectfully but you are severely underestimating the Navy and what it's ships are capable of. Remember what an aircraft carrier allows you to do....bring an air force on a mobile air strip. other ships provide protection for the carrier and can launch cruise missiles.... and let's not forget what submarines are capable of.

with the amount of earth that is covered in water, a Navy with never be obsolete
