Indiana University Uncensored Hazing Video
From the news: A 29-second clip that leaked of an alleged Indiana University Alpha Tau Omega hazing ritual, in which a student has his head between a woman’s legs, has caused the university to suspend the fraternity and the frat’s national office to revoke the local chapter’s charter. According to the frat’s national office, the man who has his head between the woman’s legs is a fraternity brother, not a pledge, and “no pledge was compelled to participate.” The question has been raised of whether the act was consensual, as in the video the frat brother tries repeatedly to break free but is held in place as his peers pressure him to continue. The woman was later found to be one of two “exotic dancers” hired for the event. |

Re: Indiana University Uncensored Hazing Video
PR incidents like these always crack me up. University heads throughout the country are fully aware of the fact that fraternities operate in this manner, but they let it slide because of the money, connections, and enrollment numbers that fraternities bring in. But the minute something like this leaks out, they act like it's some big surprise and kick the morally outraged damage control into high gear. You gotta wonder if those hypocrites are even capable of composing those bullshit press releases with a straight face anymore.

Re: Indiana University Uncensored Hazing Video
Or how about who cares until someone calls the cops? Seriously, it's grown-ass consenting adults blowing off steam and fuckin' around while they're young. Say what you want about frat culture -- I personally am not a fan -- but parties like that are no big deal unless someone is feeling genuinely violated enough to call the cops, which in this case no one apparently was. That kid in the clip didn't exactly look like he was struggling to salvage his dignity regardless of what the article tries to lead one to believe. It's the hypocrisy of the people in charge that strikes me as ridiculous. They seem to have two different stances on the subject depending on whether or not the matter has been made public. What the hell is so wrong with just saying, "Yeah, that's college kids for you, but no one's filed a criminal complaint about it and it's not the university's job to police poor taste." |
