DALLAS -- The mother of a woman accused of beating her 2-year-old daughter and gluing her hands to a wall says she too was abused by the defendant.

The mother of Elizabeth Escalona testified Monday that she was assaulted several times by her daughter as she was growing up. Nevertheless, Ofelia Escalona says she still loves her daughter and has been caring for her children since December.

A doctor testified earlier that the child's mother had beaten the girl so badly that she suffered significant brain trauma and bleeding.

Police say Elizabeth Escalona was mad about potty training problems.

Escalona pleaded guilty July 12 to injury to a child. A sentencing hearing for the 23-year-old began Monday. She faces up to life in prison. A state district judge will decide her punishment.

I couldn't think of any other word for a creature who carried a baby for nine months and didn't give her or him away, but, chose to make their little lives pure Hell!

Some women aren't ready and don't think in advance. Babies leak from four places. You have to deal with it and not torture them for being too young to control them. They also need to be nurtured and fed and bathed.

Put the drawing utensils up higher than the child or give her chalk or washable crayons.

They're curious and like to check everything out. Everything is new to them.
