IDF Retaliation Forces Terrorists to Think Twice

Gaza terrorists may declare their second ceasefire in 24 hours on Monday after the IDF’s swift and lethal retaliation against missile launchers.

Israel has not made a distinction between rocket attacks in rural areas, which often cause no damage or injuries, and those on major urban centers. One person was killed and two dozen others were wounded or suffered from shock in a barrage of terrorists' missile fire Friday and Saturday.

The Home Front Command said Sunday that school could re-open Monday, an indication that the IDF thinks Gaza terrorists will think twice before trying to stage another massive attack. Despite the confidence, many southern communities, including Ashkelon, kept schools closed for the second day in a row.

Islamic Jihad, along with other terrorist factions, took responsibility for the recent surge in missile fire but backed down from threats of revenge and agreed to a ceasefire Sunday morning.

Like previous commitments to halt attacks, the truce lasted a short time – this time only four hours – when Israeli aircraft spotted terrorists preparing to launch more rockets. A quick response scored a direct hit on the cell, killing two terrorists.

The group behind the attempted launched vowed immediate revenge, but Egypt continued trying to persuade warring terrorist factions to agree to a second ceasefire. A preliminary 10 p.m. truce never took effect, and Israel targeted another rocket launching cell overnight.

If a new ceasefire is not formally announced, an unofficial “calm” may be in force, allowing the terrorists to avoid being considered as having surrendered to Israel’s retaliation.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Sunday afternoon, ”We will do anything to defend Israeli civilians. I advise the Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist organizations not to test our capabilities

Hamas has been relatively quiet in its statements. It is responsible for ruling Gaza, but its inability to silence other terrorists’ missiles reflects a growing unrest, particularly among those who consider Hamas as being “weak” by agreeing to free kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit, even though Israel freed terrorists who were serving hundreds of life terms in jail for murdering Israelis.

A lot of free thinking Israelis agree the whole history of Israel's creation and occupation of Palestine is wrong. They're caught in the middle of it all, born into it.

Like it's the first time it happened. Terrorists had been thinking about 'it' and been testing the IDF for decades and most likely will not stop soon. Terrorists don't give a shit about human life, period.They are driven by blood lust, not intellect. Israel responds ruthlessly, believing this will dissuade further attacks... a never-ending, futile cycle of violence. If the terrorists really cared about the people they purport to be defending/fighting for, they'd find another means of influence.

The IDF traces its roots to Jewish paramilitary organizations in the New Yishuv, starting with the Second Aliyah (1904 to 1914). The first such organization was Bar-Giora, founded in September 1907. It was converted to Hashomer in April 1909, which operated until the British Mandate of Palestine came into being in 1920. Hashomer was an elitist organization with narrow scope, and was mainly created to protect against criminal gangs seeking to steal property

Operation Agatha:

Operation Agatha (Saturday, June 29, 1946) sometimes called Black Shabbat or Black Saturday because it began on the Jewish sabbath, was a police and military operation conducted by the British authorities in the British Mandate of Palestine. Soldiers and police searched for arms and made arrests in Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv, and Haifa, and in several dozen settlements; the semi-official Jewish Agency was raided. The total number of British security forces involved is variously reported as 10,000, 17,000, and 25,000. About 2,700 individuals were arrested, among them Moshe Sharett. The British objectives included dissuading the Haganah and the Palmach, Lehi (Stern Gang), and the Irgun Tzvai Leumi, from undertaking further attacks against British troops and officials, as well as possibly dissuading a unilateral proclamation of a Jewish state, and bolstering morale.

The British operations were extensive. Low flying planes circled Jerusalem. Roadblocks were maintained, trains were flagged down, and passengers were evacuated and escorted home. Special licenses were required for the operations of emergency vehicles. Curfews were imposed.

Arms caches were discovered. At Kibbutz Yagur, the troops found more than 300 rifles, some 100 2-inch mortars, more than 400,000 bullets, some 5,000 grenades and 78 revolvers. The arms were displayed at a press conference, and all the men of Yagur were arrested.[4]

Agatha triggered echoes of the Holocaust in the minds of many people. Women ripped their clothing to expose concentration camp tattoos. There were incidents of people in the settlements herded into cages while screaming that this was what the Nazis did. A minority among the British troops exacerbated the situation by shouting "Heil Hitler," scrawling swastikas on walls, and referring to gas chambers while conducting searches.

Can you even imagine how these refugees felt? They escape Nazi death camps and then are herded by British into fenced areas and listen to new threats of ovens. And it was not a minority. It was more than a few. And no one lifted a finger to stop the senseless raids against Jews. The Jews responded harsely.

After Agatha ended, the kidnapped British officers were released, and High Commissioner Alan Cunningham commuted the Irgun members' death sentences to life imprisonment.

The Haganah and Palmach was dissuaded from continued anti-British operations. However, the more extreme groups, the Lehi (Stern Gang) and the Irgun Tzvai Leumi, headed by future Prime Minister Menachem Begin, continued and even intensified their attacks.

Specifically, the Irgun retaliated for Operation Agatha by bombing the south wing of the King David Hotel, which was the headquarters of the British government in Palestine.

Furthermore if you wish to speak of a mythical country called Palestine why not include all of Jordan which was 80% of the formerly known territory. If Israel is illegal then what of Jordan?
By the way, if you believe Arabs owned Palestine for so many centuries then why did they never form a viable national identity? And what is their language? Arabic. They are from Arabia. They are moslem. Their holy city is Mecca. The Kaaba is their holy place that they pray toward. They only took the Temple mount to spite the Jews. Mohammed never once mentioned Jerusalem. And the Koran claims Israel belongs to Jews. You really should do some research.
Furthermore those Jews who don't believe Israel should be possessed by Jews should leave. That would end the controversy of course.

King David Hotel Bombing.

Bombing of the King David Hotel
The bombing of the King David Hotel occurred in July 1946 and some saw it as a pivotal moment in recent Middle East history. The King David Hotel was the site for the British Military Command in Palestine. It also served as the headquarters of the British Criminal Investigation Division. The bombing of the hotel galvanised the British into realising that their time in Palestine was coming to an end.

On June 29th 1946, the British unexpectedly entered the premises of the Jewish Agency and took away with them a large number of documents – some of which were deemed to be sensitive. All the documents were taken to the King David Hotel where they were to be assessed by intelligence analysts. At around the same time, the British arrested 2,500 Jews in Palestine. Irgun, a Jewish secret organisation (deemed to be a terrorist group by the British) decided to target the hotel for vengeance and also as a way of destroying the documents that had been taken by the British.

The leader of Irgun, Menachem Begin, claimed that Irgun saw the hotel solely as a military building – and therefore a legitimate target. Begin claimed that three warnings were sent out on July 22nd 1946 about the planned attack to keep casualties to the minimum. Begin claimed that three phone calls were made to a) to the French Consulate b) to the hotel itself and c) to the "Palestine Post".

Any warnings were to no avail. The British did not evacuate the hotel and the bombing killed 91 people and injured 45. Ironically, few people in the hotel itself were killed – and Jews were among the casualties.



The Jewish National Council immediately condemned the attack.

Did the British know about the attack before hand? Were people sacrificed in an effort to disgrace the Jewish militant bodies in Palestine? For years, former members of Irgun claimed that the British did know about the attack and that warnings had been sent. For years the British denied that this was true. However, in 1979 evidence was presented to the House of Commons in London that Britain had received a credible warning. A former British Army officer based at the hotel admitted that he had heard other officers joking about a threat that had been made to the hotel. In later years, when Menachem Begin had moved into legitimate politics, he claimed that Irgun had sent a warning directly to the hotel but the person who sent the warning was told:

"We don’t take orders from the Jews."

What were the repercussions of the bombing? In the short term, Britain hardened its attitude to what it deemed were terrorist organisations. In the mid to long term, it realised that its mandate to run Palestine was coming to an end. The troubles experienced by the British before World War Two in Palestine had now become a lot worse and it was unlikely that they would get better. When the United Nations declared the existence of Israel, Britain quickly withdrew what was left of its forces in what was now named Israel.

First off keep in mind that British troops had just raided a Jewish agency and made off with many sensitive documents. Among these documents were papers that would implicate many senior members of the Irgun operation. Also this raid retaliated for the thousands of arrest of Jewish people and the intimidation and threats of new death camps for the new refugees who had just escaped Nazi death camps.
The British were given 3 seperate warnings and responded in an arrogant fashion that they would refuse to listen to Jews. So they paid a price for arrogance. The nation of Israel was born and became a fact. The Arabs refused to form a nation and instead welcomed Egypt and Jordan as occupying armies in Gaza and Judea and Sameria. It was not until 1967 that Israel was able to toss these illegal occupiers out and regain it's homeland and its capital city Jerusalem.

This whole situation stems from the Palestinians starting a war in 1967 and they lost miserably. Since then they figure that the war is over now so Isreal should give them back thier land. That's like the nazis asking for Germany returned to them as it was when they lost it in 1945. Good luck. You lost. Next time, think twice.
