ICoke? Cops Seize ‘Apple’ Brand Cocaine
RIO DE JANEIRO – Police in Sao Paulo state arrested three men Wednesday and seized a 1.2 kilogram brick of cocaine emblazoned with the Apple logo. Campinas police explained that traffickers often use images or logos of famous people or brands to differentiate their product.
“Cartels that produce cocaine use symbols as a quality control on the sale of narcotics, meaning that this seized drug is pure,” explained one of the narcotics officers. This is the first time they have seen the “Apple” brand in the city, he added.
The suspects were processing the stimulant in an apartment when police busted them. Police estimate the street value of the processed cocaine at 25 thousand reais (about $12,500).
Last year, police in Rio de Janeiro seized drugs sporting images of late rocker Amy Winehouse and star Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho, among others.
