Hero Soldier and His Canine Partner To Take Final Flight Home
A TEAM in life and death, the body of dog handler Lance Corporal Liam Tasker and the ashes of his devoted springer spaniel Theo are to be flown home to the UK together. L/Cpl Tasker, 26, was shot dead on Tuesday while the pair were on patrol in Afghanistan. Theo died of a seizure shortly afterwards. Both had been praised by the Ministry of Defence for making 14 finds of hidden bombs and weapons caches in five months – a record for a dog and handler. The MoD confirmed yesterday: “They will be returned to the UK on the same day in the same plane.” L/Cpl Tasker, of the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, from Kirkcaldy, Fife, and Theo will be flown into RAF Lyneham, Wilts, next week. Maximum respect to our squaddies and all of the coalition forces. |

Re: Hero Soldier and His Canine Partner To Take Final Flight Home
Yeah the part that got me was the dog dying right afterward. Wonder would that of happened had his trainer not died like that. I can say first hand, dogs are aware of death and pain of their loved ones and it devastates them.
