Re: Hawking: Humanity Has Less Than 1,000 Years on Earth
It's pretty easy to understand, actually. Observe the way other animals on this planet behave... and compare it to humans. What is vastly different? Our intelligence. It can be a good thing but it can also be a bad thing. Many people will live their lives in peace without hurting anyone or anything in the process. Then there are other people who will live their lives hurting other people, animals or the environment... for selfish reasons. Animals are also guilty of doing this to their fellow kin or other species, but they do it out of an instinct to survive or repopulate. It is for the good of their species. Whereas humans commit atrocities for irrational reasons such as power or money.... things that other animals don't understand... because neither of those things are beneficial to the entire species as a whole. It is in our nature to be selfish... it is the reason we are the only intelligent species on this planet. If you accept evolution, then it is the reason we came out on top and all other species that branched off the same tree as homo sapiens... were wiped out by us because of their incompetence. Unfortunately, this selfishness is catching up to us. It won't be long before we either completely destroy the planet beyond repair or before we blow ourselves up to hell with nukes or some shit. Either way, the end of humanity will be a fitting end, for a bunch of selfish creatures. There are some redeeming qualities to the human race though, I will admit. We are also capable of compassion for our fellow animal friends and fellow people. But that won't stop others from living their lives however the hell they want to. |

Re: Hawking: Humanity Has Less Than 1,000 Years on Earth
Maybe it's time for people to stop bitching and moaning about how we are killing the planet and stand up and do something about it. Of course, it would require some pretty significant sacrifices for everyone and we can't have that. |

Re: Hawking: Humanity Has Less Than 1,000 Years on Earth
Ehh i woild say alot of people are bad but its a litle ignorant to say "every human is just out there dumping his used motor oil on the lawn. Fact of the matter is we have been taught to live like this. With all out tech. And eng. and at this point itd be pretty damn near impossible to scrap all we have and start anew because al gore told us too. |
