Gunman updates Facebook page during standoff

A GUNMAN poses with his hostage during a police siege – before putting the picture on his Facebook page.

Jason Valdez logged on to update the website amid the tense 16-hour stand-off in a hotel room.

Next to the image, the cheeky crook bragged to friends: “Got a cute hostage, huh?”


In another post, he wrote: “I’m currently in a stand-off... kinda ugly, but ready for whatever.”

Friends on the site even warned the 36-year-old armed police were hiding in bushes outside. Valdez, who has previous convictions for possession of drugs and aggravated assault, replied “Thanks homie.”

He grabbed the hostage, known only as Veronica, when police tried to arrest him for failing to appear in court on a drug possession charge.

At one point they tried to force entry, prompting Valdez to write: “These dumb b******s made an attempt to come in so i popped off a couple more shots.”

Officers ended up storming the room in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Valdez blasted himself in the chest and is critical in hospital.
