Salt Lake City, Utah (The Weekly Vice) - Flor Banos-Garcia, a 35-year-old Salt Lake City woman was jailed Thursday after she allegedly abandoned her 5-year-old daughter at a local convenience store.
According to the Salt Lake City Sheriff's Office, witnesses and a store employee reported that Banos-Garcia drove up to Maverik convenience store and got out of the car with her daughter. She then pushed the child into the store, ran to her car and then drove off, leaving the little girl behind.
Investigators say Banos-Garcia's actions were recorded by the store's surveillance cameras. Witnesses stated that the child cried as her mother drove away. The girl had never been to that particular store and did not know where she was.
Police arrested Banos-Garcia at her home since she never returned to the store.
Banos-Garcia was booked into the Salt Lake City Jail and charged with child abuse, a third degree felony. Her bail was set at $25,000.
