Fatema Al Ansari was given a new liver, pancreas, stomach and small and large intestine at a Miami hospital in 2007.

The 26-year-old, whose baby daughter was delivered by Caesarean section on February 26, says she is overjoyed.

She showed off the child at a news conference at Jackson Memorial.

The same hospital treated her after she was diagnosed with a blood clot in a major vein to the intestine.

"It's a hard feeling to express," the new mother said, as she cradled Alkadi Alhayal, who weighed 4lbs 7oz when she was born.

"It's the best feeling in the world!"

The woman and her husband, Khalifa Alhayal, live in Qatar and plan to return home in the coming weeks.

Out of about 600 five-organ transplants recorded since 2011, she is the first such patient in the world to give birth.

Dr Shalih Yasin said there have been some cases in Europe involving women who had two new organs "but not five".

"We have searched all medical literature for any pregnancy that had five multi-transplants and this is the first case to our knowledge," said the doctor.

Mrs Al Ansari was forced to terminate early a previous pregnancy after her diagnosis, which made her think she would never be able to get pregnant.

The couple eventually became parents through in vitro fertilisation.

"We wanted to say that this was a very hard decision," said the new father.

"But we wanted to give hope to other people who have transplants and give them a chance, too."

There could be more good news for the couple in the future.

Their doctors say the young mother is healthy enough to try for a second baby.

That's cool she had 5 transplants and they all took but I don't see the point of a news story about her pregnancy unless the organs were new reproductive organs

Anyone know if they paid for this or?

If they are immigrants and this was in the US, the taxpayers probably paid, or the hospital did it for the free publicity.
