No, it does not void all the good things. You do not judge the character of a person based upon a single action of theirs. A man that commits murder is capable of doing nice things and be an overall nice person. We are all able to make bad calls. Bad calls in a moment of desperation can carry great consequences. Many can remain rational under such condition, but not all. I am not saying he should be excused from the consequences. Once you commit a murder, you could be a threat to public safety and need removal. Though as long as they regret the decisions that were made, then they should have the chance of redemption. Give them a chance to become part of society and treated as an equal.

Erm, I can and I will, if it's something as disgusting as murder. That's putting it rather mildly; you are a threat to public safety. I think murder is an unforgivable crime; one not worthy of 'redemption'. Why? Well, not only because 'words are cheap' and when somebody's freedom is potentially at stake they will usually become 'oh so repentant'. Secondly, it just seems to be totally dismissive of victims to say something ridiculous like, 'he's a good man really, look, he's saying sorry'. Are you really trying to relativise murder as a 'bad call'?  Go love your own enemies, don't be loving someone elses! |

I have a friend who did something similar to this and I agree with what Stimm is saying. Just because they have a lapse of poor judgement, lose the plot, have a major fuck-up or what ever else you like to call it, it doesn't make them a bad person I believed he was a nice person even after what he did, and I was right |
