Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., will introduce legislation Thursday morning to reinstate a federal ban on assault weapons, the senator's office announced Wednesday.

The "Assault Weapons Ban of 2013," which centers on banning military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition feeding devices—actions backed by President Barack Obama—will be introduced during a press conference at 11 a.m. Thursday. Feinstein will be joined by a coalition of Democratic lawmakers, law enforcement officers, and representatives from gun safety and gun violence groups, among others.

Everyone I talked to isn't going to change their weapons or give them up if there is a ban. I doubt the criminals will do the same. But if people sleep better at night

You should be happy with what you got. Here, all guns except shotguns and airguns are illegal, we have no real defense law. If someone were to threaten my life in my home and I stabbed him or anything, I'm the bad guy. Even if one of my dogs bit him, I could be sued. At least you're allowed lethal force.
