Re: Family Guy and Domestic Violence... Not Funny?
I don't think i'd write off my marriage over who gets the remote. Can't you try getting another TV for the bedroom. Heck we're not rich and we have 5 TVs in our house.

Re: Family Guy and Domestic Violence... Not Funny?
perhaps i should have, hind sight is 20/20 as i am sure you are aware. but i was stuck to the idea that marriage is a "til death do you part" thing, and i tried very hard to fix him. then when i got over that, i decided to only stick around until the last child was finished with high school. now i've decided he is old enough, i'm not waiting until fucking august.

Re: Family Guy and Domestic Violence... Not Funny?
"It's not satire any more - it's too close to real life"!?!? But that's exactly what satire is meant to be. Here's a dictionary entry of Satire: ... in which human folly and vice are hold up to scorn, derision, or ridicule. It's not like Family Guy has ever been that politically correct anyway. I don't think true fans of the show will be that shocked. If it's funny, then it's funny. Simples!

Re: Family Guy and Domestic Violence... Not Funny?
Yeah... It was unpleasant to watch... not humorous. Not sure what the writer was going for, a coupla beatings would've been enough to make us hate the 'bad boyfriend' character and set up the 'let's kill this a-hole' plot... but the entire episode was pretty sparse on entertainment and was more like something you'd see on the LIFETIME channel. |
