Ex-policeman Michael Slager Jailed for Shooting Walter Scott
A former South Carolina police officer has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for fatally shooting an unarmed African-American motorist. Michael Slager committed second-degree murder when he shot Walter Scott, 50, in the back as he fled arrest after a traffic stop, a judge ruled. "I forgive you," relatives of Scott told Slager, 36, in court, as they spoke about the death's impact on them. A bystander recorded mobile phone video of the April 2015 shooting. This blows my mind. How in the FCK was this not a justified shooting??? All you morons against this officer are pathetic. PLEASE TELL ME, what should happen to someone who runs from a traffic stop, starts an all out fist fight with the officer when the officer catches him, in the process of the fight the officer loses control of his taser (who cares if black dude grabbed it, all cop knows is that cop doesn't have it any more), the perp then runs again. WHAT SHOULD OFFICER HAVE DONE??? Let him run away??? Such an obsurd thought. He was prolly running to church right? In no possible situation would perp be running into a situation where he would be putting civilians in danger. Seriously, one of you idiots explain this to me! Ffs!!!  : |

Dense bastards. He didn't "just run from the cops" good god! He engaged in a fist fight with an officer, dislodging the officers taser AND THEN ran from the cop. Tell me!! What should the officer have done??? |

He was fighting to get away, possibly if during the struggle the cop managed to shoot him, it would be considered justified. But it was obvious by the videos that the guy was only trying to get away. So at the moment of the shots, again it was obvious the guy was trying to get away. He engaged in a fist fight? Says the cop who also said the guy had his taser that was right at his feet. Says the same cop who shot at a guy running away from him 8 times. When his hands were in clear view, in full running motion, this guy was afraid for his life?  Please, the cop was wrong. They aren't allowed to shoot us for breaking the law. Unless they believe there is an imminent threat, or you have just killed someone are extremely wanted. Cops create scenarios to kill people all the time. This guy just was unlucky that some guy filmed him doing it. |
