Re: Ex-Model Who Killed and Ate Hubby Seeks Parole
Was it even proven that she was abused / raped? Seems to me that if she was capable of murdering and then eating her husand with BBQ sauce, she could also be capable of lying about the circumstances leading up to the murder.

Re: Ex-Model Who Killed and Ate Hubby Seeks Parole
She asked several ex-boyfriends to help her get rid of the body, but they all declined. Unable to dispose of the body, she became desperate and tried to dismember it. But that's very difficult, if you don't know what you're doing and don't have the proper tools. Former Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Bob Phillips, who was lead detective on the case, said, "She was up for many, many days trying to complete this crime and it might have been sleep deprivation and general fatigue from dismembering a body." The psychiatrist who testified at trial said that in his over 20 years of experience, she was, at the time, in the most psychotic state he had ever seen. When she confessed, she was in such a state, she well could have imagined many bizarre things, including BBQ sauce. On the other hand, she was desperately trying to dispose of evidence. That might have just been a way to stomach what she felt she had to do. I'm not saying the bizarre things she ranted in that state did or didn't happen. I'm not saying this isn't horrible and gruesome or that she shouldn't have been convicted. I'm just saying that torture, sleep deprivation and exhaustion can have some... interesting effects. |

She'll probably be convicted of murder because during the killing she was not in a state that can qualify for the insanity defense. But the insanity defense can come in on the cannibalism (desecration) account; psychosis induced by sleep deprivation and emotional dysregulation fits the bill. But I don't think she'll get off lightly for this.
