Re: ENVIRONMENT ‘Get Off Our Land’: Watch As Members of Navajo Tribe Literally
Ours does, just don't have jurisdiction to prosecute. There is an old white guy that they dubbed "DUI Joe" because after a night of drinking, he would drive around the reservation till he got pulled over, and put in the drunk tank to sleep it off. They'd release him the next morning to go retrieve his car, and go home, just to do it by the next weekend.

TECHNICALLY HOW: Tribal sovereignty in the United States*is the inherent authority of*indigenous tribes*to govern themselves within the borders of theUnited States of America. The*U.S. federal government*recognizes tribal nations as "domestic dependent nations" and has established a number of laws attempting to clarify the relationship between the federal, state, and tribal governments. |

Re: ENVIRONMENT ‘Get Off Our Land’: Watch As Members of Navajo Tribe Literally
Tribal people are 'pretty much' left alone to deal with their own people on tribal lands. Start messing around with something like substantial amounts of drugs, automatic weaponry and/or explosives though and the supposed legal autonomy...evaporates. |
