Drunk Teen Sets Up DUI Checkpoint, Pulls Over Motorists
By: Grant (Breaking911 Newsroom) June 3, 2015 Somerset, PA — 19 year old, Logan Shaulis, parked his car diagonally across a Pennsylvania road, set up road flares, and began stopping cars and asking for drivers’ paperwork around 4 a.m. Saturday. When the real cops arrived he tried to hand off a pellet gun to a driver, saying, “I can’t get caught with this,” according to media reports. He faces a long list of criminal charges including drink driving. Other charges include impersonating an officer, unlawful detention, harassment, and reckless endangerment. Police say he was found on Saturday slurring his speech and had bloodshot eyes. He also had a pair of handcuffs and a portable police scanner with him. Mr Shaulis is currently being held in jail awaiting trial.  · |

drunk driving?? how can they charge someone with drunk driving if they weren't found behind the wheel?

Good thing booze got this kid to act out his stupidity. He could have slipped through, eventually became a real cop, been a contributor to bad-cop statistics later.

Without knowing all the facts of this particular case, I'll tell you that if he'd had the keys in his pocket that's enough. If anyone witnessed him driving that's enough. If he accidentally told the cops that's enough. In Canada the law doesn't need to prove you were driving, it just needs to prove you had care and control. |

If the car was legally registered to him, or a close family member (parents) it is enough probable cause to initiate an arrest, rather he had keys on him or not.
