...from the pub. The car was involved in three-car smash after Mikolaj Tomaszewski let his son get behind the wheel.

A drunk father is facing up to 5 years in jail after he made his 8-year-old son drive HIM home from the pub.

Mikolaj Tomaszewski had been boozing with pals in Gielniow, Poland.

But when he decided to go home he realised he was feeling too drunk and so called his son and told him to cycle to the pub and then drive him home.


He told police that he had allowed the youngster to practice driving at weekends in a local supermarket car park, and thought it would be fine for his son to drive him the short distance home.

But as the eight-year-old struggled behind the wheel of the Opel Corsa he pulled in front of a car coming the other way at a crossing, and that sent him careering over the road into a third car.

The father and son were among five people taken to hospital with cuts and bruising, and the dad was later arrested for endangering the life of a minor and causing an accident.

If it was just a short distance to drive? why couldn't he just walk?
I know and understand, he was drunk. But he could have just walked home...
Then again? this is how alcoholics end up with D.U.I. after D.U.I. .. (luckily for myself and others, I never had a D.U.I. and only decided to take the wheel while drunk once.. Was in the middle of no where backwoods, but still a bad idea.)
As a recovering alcoholic of 5 years.. I can safely say this is one drinking event that will haunt him for the rest of his life.. loses his son, 5 years of his life.. and pretty much anything else he had going for him at the time.

I hate the disease of addiction..but it's a love hate relationship..
I would never have found my own personal issues/problems and repaired them if not for my addiction/disease. As one could imagine though.. collateral damage abound...story above is case in point..
