Toddler filmed smoking marijuana


A 24-year-old woman has faced court and her young son has been taken into care after she posted video online of the toddler smoking marijuana.

Rachelle Braaten, from Washington in the US, was arrested last week along with 25-year-old Tyler J. Lee, after the video was spotted on YouTube.

Police also allegedly recovered illegal firearms and 40 marijuana plants.



When Ms Braaten was arrested, she allegedly told police the video was a joke that had gotten out of hand.

"I guess it was a joke and stupid mistake that wasn't really funny," she allegedly said.

Ms Braaten also said she felt 'horrible' about the video, which was filmed five months before her arrest.

"Because he is two and he shouldn't have known about that," said Braaten. "He shouldn't have that in his body."

The video shows the toddler coughing after inhaling the marijuana smoke.

At this point, the other people in the room begin laughing louder and the child looks at the camera taken aback, and the video ends,' prosecutors wrote in court documents.

Braaten allegedly said she had been passing around the bong with friends when they pressured her into giving it to her child.

Ms Braaten and Mr Lee were arrested last Friday; Ms Braaten has been released on $20,000 (USD) bail.
The two-year-old and his five-year-old brother remain with child services.
