They've been hanging out on pub signs for years but now they appear to have really hit it off during a game of fetch.
The clip shows the excited pair rushing towards a lake as their baseball capped owner prepares to throw a stick into the water, with the canine first to take the plunge.
Not far behind is his feathered friend who quickly dives in, before smartly hitching a ride on the back of the dog paddles out to fetch the stick.
After promptly retrieving the branch, the unlikely double-act make their way back to dry land to dry off.
The video was uploaded onto YouTube by animal video viral site PETSAMI, with the description: 'Who says opposites don't attract?! This video is so cute we can't take it!'
The clips has racked up thousands of hits in less than 24 hours, with one user commenting: 'Somebody give that dog a towel!'
