Delaware State Trooper at DMV and Shooter Killed During Shooting
A tragic shooting occurred yesterday, Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office in the Wilmington/New Castle area. It happened at the Karen L. Johnson DMV facility on Hessler Boulevard, just south of Wilmington city limits when at approximately 2:00 PM, a 44-year-old man entered the DMV as a customer. He approached a Delaware State Trooper who was working an overtime assignment at the reception desk and opened fire without warning. After being shot, the trooper managed to push a DMV employee out of harm's way before the gunman shot him a second time. Both the State Trooper and the suspect are deceased. The suspect was shot and killed by a responding New Castle County police officer. A 40-year-old woman and a second trooper sustained minor, non-gunshot-related injuries during the chaos. The Delaware State Police and the ATF are currently investigating the motive behind the attack, which authorities have described as an "ambush." Delaware State Trooper Matthew Tyler Snook was killed. The shooter was 44-year-old Avery Young. |

Re: Delaware State Trooper at DMV and Shooter Killed During Shooting
I feel bad for the officer’s family. What a shitty thing to have to go through and especially at Christmas. So unnecessary. Some angry fuck decides to shoot a random person who he didn’t know and had no prior interaction with. I’m glad he’s dead. |

Re: Delaware State Trooper at DMV and Shooter Killed During Shooting
Delaware State Police say 44-year-old Rahman Rose is accused of shooting and killing a state trooper inside a Department of Motor Vehicles office near Wilmington on Tuesday. They changed it from Avery Young to Rahman Rose. Avery Young was the accused in an earlier release. Law enforcement sources said Rose had recently resumed posting on social media after years of silence, sharing content that included claims of being “gang stalked” by police. Investigators are reviewing those posts as part of the ongoing investigation. Officials said the motive remains under investigation, and the case is being handled by state and federal authorities. |
