Some people may have mostly alcohol in them.
Sofa king impossible, you are about 60% water. A blood alcohol content of anything over .50% you are most likely going to die. So that's less than half of a percent of your blood volume, never mind the rest of your body not blood.

Re: Death in OK May Have Been Spontaneous Combustion

i wonder how spontaneous combustion would be possible with the body being made up of mostly water.....
The fat content of the body acts like a candle with the clothing being the wick. It is called "the wick affect". The body basically does a very heated slow burn, enough heat to consume the body but rarely enough to involve surrounding area.

Re: Death in OK May Have Been Spontaneous Combustion

I don't know. You could be right. It's hard for a layperson to research this, given that it isn't a universally accepted theory (Spontaneous Combustion) and googling it would probably give instances that could be explained in other ways. It's a fascinating thing though.
Being quite the fan of Charles Dickens, Around 1852-53 He wrote a series called Bleak House. One of his story characters, a Mr. Krook was to have died by Spontaneous Combustion. It caused such and uproar that they demanded a rewrite due to the fact that it spread fear and distorted truths. He REFUSED, Stating that he "did ample study before using it in his story" and "in fact was aware of 30 such cases."
It may be taboo as they say, but cases of this happening have been around a very long time.

Re: Death in OK May Have Been Spontaneous Combustion

A lot of people who have died through Spontaneous Combustion have been alcoholics or heavy drinkers
Alcohol you say? I have a theory! I think that alcohol vaporizes within the body, forming pockets of gas. If one of such pockets were to ignite, boom shakalaka boom?

Wick effect, a persons garments and body fat act as a candle wick and simply burn up. passed out drunk + cigarette = ankles in a shoebox sized casket
