Davy Jones of The Monkeys Dead
Monkees Singer Davy Jones Dead at 66 Updated: Wednesday, 29 Feb 2012, 12:53 PM CST Published : Wednesday, 29 Feb 2012, 12:07 PM CST (NewsCore) - Davy Jones, lead singer of the '60s pop-rock group The Monkees, died Wednesday of a heart attack. Jones, who last performed Feb. 19 in Oklahoma, formed the Monkees in 1966 with Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork. Their biggest hits included "Daydream Believer," "Last Train to Clarksville" and "I'm a Believer" and they also had a television show. After the show went off the air, the group eventually disbanded but Jones continued to perform on his own. TMZ said Martin Memorial Hospital confirmed Jones' death. His publicist Helen Kensick told FOX News Channel, "The only thing we can do is confirm that he has died of a heart attack at Indiantown Florida this morning. We will have more later.
