And the Darwin Award Goes To...
My first time posting in Current Events, so let's hope I'm doing this right.

This happened on Friday, July 15th, 2011:

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis Police say a man who flashed a badge and yelled at the driver of a sport utility vehicle to slow down got an unexpected surprise.

The badge flasher was a civilian. The man in the unmarked SUV was a police detective.

The department says a plain-clothes detective was on the way to a drug investigation Thursday night when 49-year-old Stephen Gibson of Bartlett pulled up beside his vehicle on Interstate 40, showed a gold badge and shouted profanities about the detective's speed.

The detective turned on the vehicle's blue lights and pulled over Gibson, charging him with criminal impersonation, according to The Commercial Appeal.

The officer says Gibson told him he didn't realize the detective was the police, saying a lot of people pretend to be.

I don't know about you guys, but I think it's pretty funny. Memphis citizens seem to do the strangest things.

I was driving along I95 in Virginia coming home from work one time and some guy in a car completely cut in front of me and flashed a badge at me and pointed for me to pull over to the side.

There was absolutely no way I believed he was a cop, don't know why, but I think it was the way he was acting. Anyway, I gave him the finger and shook my head and thought "if he IS a cop I am in big trouble".
But he glowered at me and zoomed off into the traffic.
I truly think he picked me because I was a woman driving alone. I know he was up to no good.

All cop impersonators should be given severe penalties. God knows what that guy wanted to do.
